Well, I guess I should be happy that I was able to recover any of these.
When I got home and tried to download these, Windows said that all there was on both the primary and secondary camera disks were 3 photos. After trying to open the contents of both disks using different applications, I was able to recover the JPEGs on the secondary disk, but not the RAW on the primary ($300 disk with a hard failure).
I’m not used to editing JPEGs, so I’m not sure whether the fact that my typical Adobe Lightroom de-noise setting significantly reduced the apparent resolution was because I was editing lower-resolution JPEGs, or because Adobe changed their standard de-noise function in the new release of Lightroom (which also provides AI-based de-noise adjustments, but only on RAW files).
‘More to look into. At least I didn’t lose them all.
Note to subjects: If you want the nicest photos, be in direct sunlight.
