Space was tight, but I was able to get a few shots in last night.
Last night, the party was at the Galactic Panther Art Gallery, on King Street in Old Towne Alexandria. Friends Without Benefits was the featured entertainment for an exhibit-opening party. Right now, this post just has photos of the band. The videos of their performances are too large to post here. I’ll look into posting links to some other location.
On Saturday, June 3rd, 2017, our friend Kenny was celebrating his 50th birthday by hosting his own concert at the IOTA Club and Cafe in Arlington, Virginia. The concert involved performances from five bands, and Kenny was the drummer for every one of them. These were the five bands that Kenny played in between high school and the present day.
What an idea! What a blast! And of course, as a photographer, what can I learn from it?
I was asked by a long time friend and neighbor if I would shoot photos at the 2017 fundraising gala for Virginia Music Adventures (VMA), at The Barns at Wolf Trap, in Vienna, Virginia, on February 24, 2017. From their mission statement, Virginia Music Adventures is an organization that provides comprehensive jazz music instruction, combined with performance and travel opportunities, for school age musicians. Through local, national, and international community service and travel, VMA encourages its students to develop empathy and respect toward other cultures. VMA also helps to preserve jazz, by acting as ambassadors to help educate audiences at home and around the world about America’s unique musical art form.
