On Friday, May 19th, we had a lovely breakfast at the West Highland Hotel. Bo had arranged for a taxi driver to take us on a tour of the Isle of Skye, and then drop us off at the Minaig B&B in Fort William that evening. His name was Nairn.
We took a ferry to the island,
Our first stop on the island was Armadale Castle. The castle is on a 20,000 acre estate.
We stopped in the village of Uig, to check out their pottery shop, and we had lunch across the street at the Orasay Tearoom. These guys know how to serve a ‘scone with cream and jam’!
Old Man of Storr.
Waterfall
We stopped at the ruins of Duntulm Castle. The ruins were fenced off, with a sign saying that the structure is unstable. Just down the hill from the ruins, an engagement shoot was taking place.

On the way back to Fort William, we stopped by the Eilean Donan Castle, which we could only see from a distance because it had already closed for the day. While I was taking photos, some other folks drove up, and one of them had a drone. From where we were, several hundred yards away, he flew the drone over the castle taking photos and video. With the clear airspace, and nothing to damage, this was the perfect application. I can see this being in my future.
After Nairn dropped us off at our B&B, Patty and I walked about 3/4 mile into town. We took photos at the new end of the WHW, and we had dinner at The Great Glen pub, before walking back.
